Like a lot of people out there, I’ve struggled with my weight most of my adult life. I’ve had the typical yo-yoing of weight since graduating college, with its peaks and valleys. I made a lot of poor dietary choices when I was younger, which was part of the problem. In the past 10 years, even though I cleaned up my diet, ate healthier, and exercised daily, I was not able to lose the weight I thought I should. I came to realize that my body’s set point was too high. For me, my main issue has been hunger and portion size. I knew I needed to try something else so I decided to try Ozempic. I started the medicine back in November of 2022. Initially what I noticed was I just didn’t feel hungry anymore. I could go from breakfast to lunch and not have that mid morning hunger creep into my day. I also noticed that I felt fuller faster, especially at dinner (which was typically my largest meal). For me, the only side effect I had was a headache, and I found that was due to not drinking enough water. I learned that I needed to drink 50% more water than normal and then I felt okay. I took the medicine for 4 months on a weekly basis as directed, and in that time I had lost 10% of my body weight and lost 3″ on my waist. In those four months, I was able to further focus on eating healthier without the constant hunger that plagued me in the past. I still do take the medication, but I am back taking the lowest dose, and only once every 2 weeks just to maintain the appetite suppression. Overall I have been happy with the medication and the results, and plan to continue taking it for the near future.
